Dan Peek of America and gospel music fame is dead at 60
Gospel artist Dan Peek, one of the co-founders of the soft-rock trio America, died in his sleep on July 24, 2011. The cause of death has not yet been determined, and news of his death were just released on Tuesday.

The Iraqi Dinar is a hot topic on some discussion boards like dinarvets.com, nenosplace and investorsiraq.com where people have been debating the pros and cons of investing in the devalued currency of Iraq. It appears most of those who post on these boards are in favor of investing some disposable funds in the currency based on the fact Iraq’s currency was devalued as part of economic sanctions which are expected to be lifted soon.

A decade ago, Ben Jones who played ”Cooter” on the popular “Dukes of Hazzard” television show launched DukesFest in the Sperryville, Virginia area of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Over the years the festival grew and eventually ended up with nearly 100,000 Dukes fans in Nashville for DukesFest 2006 for the biggest DukesFest ever at the old Nashville Speedway.

Recently this column reported that Canadian Christian band Downhere has teamed with Nashville’s Grammy and Dove award-winning producer Mark Hiemermann on their new album “On The Altar Of Love.” Now Downhere brings their latest musical endeavor to Fellowship Bible Church in Brentwood, 1210 Franklin Road, on Friday, July 29th at 7 pm, with doors opening at 6:30 pm.
