Nashville’s 32nd Oktoberfest celebrates faith, friendship & fun

Nashville’s 32nd annual Oktoberfest took place on Oct. 8 in the historic Germantown community. Hosted by the Church of the Assumption and Monroe Street United Methodist Church, Oktoberfest is a free, not-for-profit event with proceeds going to the continuing restoration of historic Assumption Catholic Church and Monroe Street United Methodist Church, as well as continuing outreach projects for the needy.

Dukes of Hazzard fans rejoice — DukesFest is back as Hazzard Homecoming

A decade ago, Ben Jones who played ”Cooter” on the popular “Dukes of Hazzard” television show launched DukesFest in the Sperryville, Virginia area of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Over the years the festival grew and eventually ended up with nearly 100,000 Dukes fans in Nashville for DukesFest 2006 for the biggest DukesFest ever at the old Nashville Speedway.

How to Prepare For a Renaissance Festival

 

If you have never been to a Renaissance festival, you are missing out on a real experience! I live not too far from the biggest Ren fest in Tennessee, but I didn’t know about it for years. When I first heard about it, I thought “that sounds weird,” but some friends finally talked me into going, and I loved it! One reason I enjoyed it so much was the group I went with dressed up for it, so I donned my peasant broom skirt and top – purchased at Macy’s on clearance for about $3 apiece – and went along for the ride.

I have now attended the Tennessee Renaissance Festival every year for several years, so I have five tips on how to prepare for and enjoy a Renaissance fair

The Nashville Italian Lights Festival had its inaugural run September 10 – 12, 2010 on the campus of at St. Pius X School. Free admission allowed patrons to enjoy a host of activities including: Grape Stomping, Wine Garden, Kids Zone, Music, Wine Tasting, Bocce Tournament, Fine Arts, Italian Food, Face Painting, Great Parking, Arts & Crafts, Gelato, and Tea for Two with Mother Goose.
