43rd Annual GMA Dove Award winners list

The 43rd Annual Gospel Music Association Dove Awards bypassed Nashville again to be held in Atlanta, GA.  However, in spite of the move, Nashville artists and record companies dominated the events capturing many Dove Awards for the Gospel Music Association’s home town and making sure Music City was well represented.

As announced in Christian Activities goes offline for upgrades, Nashville’s oldest inter-denominational publication, Christian Activities, went offline on January 31, 2012 for an upgrade. Now the arts and entertainment website is back up and bigger and better than ever.

Leigh Nash to release Hymns & Sacred Songs Nov. 15

The honeyed vocals of Nashville’s Leigh Nash helped put Sixpence None the Richer on the musical map. Now Nash announces she is releasing her first solo project in five years, “Hymns & Sacred Songs” on Nov. 15 on Kingsway with EMI CMG Distribution in the US.

Switchfoot to perform new single ‘Dark Horses’ on Jimmy Kimmel Live on Sept. 19

Grammy-winning gospel band Switchfoot will perform “Dark Horses,” the lead single from its upcoming album, Vice Verses on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” on Monday, September 19.  Vice Verses, the eighth studio record from the multi-platinum rock band, will be released on September 27, 2011 on Nashville’s Credential Recordings and Atlantic Records.

Christian artist Andrew Peterson is adding successful author to his list of achievements. Having published two other children’s books since 2007, Peterson is now writing a series of fantasy/adventure novels for young readers ages 9 – 12 called The Wingfeather Saga.

Mike Blanton announces BE Music & Entertainment’s Nashville office

One of the pioneering Christian music companies was Nashville’s Blanton & Harrell, the company which managed Amy Grant’s early career with Dan Harrell being Amy Grant‘s brother-in-law. Mike Blanton and Dan Harrell went on to launch Reunion Records in 1982 for artists like Kathy Troccoli, Michael W. Smith, and Rich Mullins. More recently, in 2002 Mike Blanton and Dan Harrell joined with Steve Thomas to form BHT Entertainment.

The Gospel Music Association (GMA) has announced it is bypassing its Nashville home once again in favor of Atlanta, Georgia for the 2012 Dove Awards.
